Black Magic :A Growing Menace
Peer Muhammad Amir Qureshi
Black magic also known as witchcraft is usage of supernatural power for evil and selfish purposes and to perform malicious practices to destroy someone physically or mentally or financially.
It can be done using the victim’s hair, clothes, photos, fishes, bones of animals and blood as well. Practicing black magic is not something new, it has been practiced since generations and hence we need to be very careful about it in this era. Black magic makes humans of baseless fears, reverses fortunes and confusions.
The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)said ‘Avoid the Mubiqat (major sins), that is Shirk (Associating partners to Allah) and witchcraft’ Sahih Albukhari 5764. By this Hadith one can predict that how much sinful is this act of doing black magic or sorcery to anyone.
Verily no religion, culture or civilization has vociferated unconscionable practice but it’s we humans who have made this by reversing some Verses of Quran which was sent to us by Almighty Allah to get salvation.
There has been a dramatic rise in these evil activities in Kashmir since from few years It’s not a new process our Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W)was also spelled by magic once and our beloved Prophet was also influenced by that evil act.
People often get jealous from one another and do sorcery or black magic to each other, in order to lower down them financially or mentally, Now people have crossed all boundaries, now they want to kill each other by black magic because they envy each other’s progress which Allah has given them, but these ignorant and mentally ill people do not know that yes they can torture someone but no one can kill anyone except God.
These are people who will not be forgiven in this world or in the hereafter on the day of resurrection what will they do then? Is their conscience dead? Don’t they think that they will have to answer tomorrow for their deeds? How can we sleep peacefully by making the life of other people a misery? Well, by doing this, we only become the doers of fratricides and sycophancy and yield a word of shame, diatribe in our society and pile up a huge mountain of sins for our worldly life and Hereafter.
Recently in our valley, a number of videos have surfaced on social media where this grave issue has been highlighted with physical evidences in order to sensitize our conscience and cogitate about this maelstrom in which our society has got stuck very badly.
Although, we entitle ourselves to be the Believers of Deen and denizens of Peer Vaer (valley of saints) but unfortunately we have outraged the innocence of our religious, ethical and decorous principles. The persons who practice this devilish evils are known as so-called pir’s who for the sake of money practice this devilish acts.
This evil doing is performed in order to divide families, to break marriage bonds, to have loss in business, to disturb someone mentally, physically and emotionally as well.
There’s need of strict action as a society against those who practice this act. Our social preachers ( ullamas) should come forward in order to curb this menace. They should deliver sermons on this social issue by enlightening what would be the consequences of these acts here and hereafter.
Social activists should also teach people about the consequences of this misdeed they are doing to one another. There should be complete social boycott of those so called magician (pirs) who perform these evil acts.
One the antidote taught by the Last Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is that we should recite chapter 2, 112, 113 and 114 from the glorious Quran and pray the Sunnah prayers at home on routine basis until the effects of this evil wither away. One who makes someone’s life difficult or will ruin someone’s life or career, how can be he or she happy himself/herself ?
